Major General Muhammad Aneeq Ur Rehman, HI(M) retired in March 2024 after serving for approximately thirty-seven years in the Army. Throughout military service, he remained employed on multiple command, instructional and staff appointments dealing with organizational development, human resource development and training, joint services operational planning and multi-national operations.
He is a graduate of Command and Staff College and National Defence University, and remained on the faculties of School of Infantry and Tactics, School of Armour and Mechanized Warfare, Command and Staff College and National Defence University. His academic profile includes Master of Philosophy (Public Policy & Strategic Security Management), Master of Science (Art & Science of Warfare) and Bachelor of Science (Honours) in War Studies.
He has served on multiple staff levels including Brigade Major of an Infantry Brigade, Grade-II Staff Officer at Chief of General Staff Secretariat, Colonel Staff of Infantry Division deployed in Operation AlMizan, Director Military Training (Combat) and Director General Organizations and Methods at General Headquarters; and Director General Operations and Plans at Joint Staff Headquarters. Working in multinational environment, he served both as Military observer and Military Advisor to Force Commander / Chief Military Observer in UNAMSIL besides heading the Military Training Mission to Bahrain.
He has commanded his Parent Mechanized Unit, a Brigade each in Operation Al-Mizan, along international border, and an Infantry Division. Had the opportunity to render services at national level by working closely with Federal Relief Commission during Earthquake-2005 and spear-heading AntiCOVID-19 drive as a Field Formation Commander in a provincial capital.
His last assignment was Director General Anti-Narcotics Force, wherein he projected Pakistan on international and regional forums as part of Counter-Narcotics Diplomacy and galvanized the performance of National Inter Agency Task Force on Drugs to achieve hitherto fore unparalleled Drug Supply Reduction seizures.
